The Pulmonary Hypertension Association of Canada (PHA Canada) is proud to announce a new partnership with Vision Quest Communications Inc. to lead the creation of a National Indigenous Advisory Council for Patients and Caregivers. This important initiative is part of our growing commitment to ensuring that the lived experiences, voices, and needs of Indigenous people affected by pulmonary hypertension (PH) are reflected in our programs, resources, and advocacy work.
“Vision Quest Communications Inc. is honoured to be leading the outreach efforts to establish an Advisory Council for Indigenous Patients and Caregivers across Canada, on behalf of the Pulmonary Hypertension Association of Canada. This initiative is deeply personal to our team, as our Managing Partner and CEO, Marion Brown, was diagnosed with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension seven years ago, and her daughter, Danielle Wilson-Brown, our Partner and President, has been her dedicated caregiver and support. This lived experience provides Vision Quest with a profound understanding of the journey of living with PH, particularly the unique challenges and needs faced by Indigenous patients and caregivers.” – Marion Brown, a Gitxaala woman from British Columbia, and her daughter Danielle Wilson-Brown, both co-founders of Vision Quest Communications Inc.
Rooted in lived experience and guided by Indigenous leadership, this partnership marks a significant step in our efforts to foster inclusion, accessibility, and culturally safe support for Indigenous communities navigating life with PH.
The Council will offer vital insight into how PH impacts Indigenous patients and families, and help PHA Canada develop meaningful resources and outreach strategies that honour Indigenous knowledge, traditions, and community priorities.
Marion and Danielle will attend the 2025 PH Community Conference, where they’ll share more about this initiative. A call for Council members will be launched shortly.
Stay tuned for updates on how you can get involved.
