Canadians need Connected Care: Supporting Bill S-5

Only 29% of physicians can share patient information outside their practice. Less than half (47%) of Canadians have accessed their own electronic health records.

This disconnect has real consequences: duplicated tests, delayed diagnoses, and prescriptions without a full picture.

Bill S-5 can help fix this:

  • It prohibits practices that lock patient information in systems that can’t communicate with each other.

  • It requires common standards for health information sharing.

This legislation can also reduce the time physicians spend chasing information across incompatible platforms, helping to ease administrative burden and improve access to care.

MPs need to know people across the country want them to pass the Connected Care for Canadians Act. Now.

Tell your local MP why you support Bill S-5 — the Connected Care for Canadians Act  — to unlock health information for doctors, patients and caregivers.

The Canadian Medical Association has set up a campaign that makes it easy for you to send a letter. Write now and let’s make connected care a reality for people living in Canada.
