Pericardial effusion in patients treated with sotatercept

Because a drug trial for another drug similar to sotatercept was stopped when it was found to be associated with pericardial effusion (fluid around the heart), researchers looked back to see whether five of their sotatercept patients also experienced pericardial effusion. Four of them did have worsening pericardial effusions. Researchers could not tell whether it was due to sotatercept or other confounding factors, but they recommend exploring further.
