November is Pulmonary Hypertension Awareness Month, but did you know that it’s also Financial Literacy Month in Canada? The Financial Consumer Agency of Canada – set up to protect consumers of financial products and services – is encouraging everyone to “Talk Money” this month. They’re hoping to help break down the stigma around financial discussions.
PHA Canada has resources to help with financial literacy and financial assistance, too:
Finance and PH resource list, detailing learning tools and government benefits and credits
Blog post on the Canada Caregiver Tax Credit
Canada Disability Benefit interview with Liss Cairns from Plan Institute
Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP) Awareness Month interview with Liss Cairns from Plan Institute (2024)
Webinar on exploring financial supports for people with disabilities (2023)
Webinar on financial health for families of people with pulmonary hypertension (2022)
Take some time this November to explore these resources, start a conversation about money, and empower yourself—or someone you care for—with greater financial confidence and support.
