December 5th is International Volunteer Day, we pause to celebrate the incredible people who are the heartbeat of our community: our volunteers.
Whether you're living with pulmonary hypertension (PH), supporting a loved one, or simply passionate about making a difference—your dedication, time, and compassion are what make PHA Canada’s work possible.
From running support groups and organizing local events, to serving on committees and sharing your lived experience, every act of volunteerism brings connection, strength, and hope to the PH community. You help people feel seen, heard, and supported through some of their most difficult moments. And you remind us all that we are not alone.

Useful piece — the value is in the specifics that usually get left out. The advice worth repeating is to leave room rather than packing every minute. What a lovely tribute to the volunteers who make PHA Canada so special. I especially appreciated the point about how volunteers help people feel "seen, heard, and supported" during difficult moments—that really captures the human side of what you all do. Speaking of connection and shared experiences, it reminds me of how communities form around all kinds of shared passions; I've found something similar with the daily trivia community at krillion, where everyone comes together to trade hints and celebrate rare answers. Different worlds, but the same spirit of people showing up for each other. Happy International Volunteer Day to everyone giving their time to this cause.
