Elizabeth Tangalin
Liz graduated with a Nursing Diploma from John Abbott College in St. Anne de Bellevue, QC in 2000, and a Bachelor of Science Nursing degree from the University of Ottawa in 2002.
Liz started her career in Montreal and worked in various hospitals and areas while completing her degree. These units ranged from Orthopedics to Med/Surg and Internal Medicine, with hospitals located between Montreal, central Ottawa, including up to the Ottawa Valley.
Liz earned her Critical Care certification in 2009 and worked in the Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care Unit (CSICU) at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute for a decade. During her time in the CSICU, the Unit established itself as the sole center able to support ECMO therapy to the adult patient population in Eastern Ontario.
In 2020, Liz transitioned from her In-Patient role to Ambulatory Care in the Heart Function Clinic. In 2022, Liz expanded that role by dividing her time between the Heart Function and the Pulmonary Hypertension Clinics.
Throughout the years, Liz has precepted various Nursing Students, and Orientees between her time in the Cardiac Surgery ICU, and the Ambulatory Care clinics. She is an active leader within the Heart Function Clinic by developing a staff training guide, and acts as a resource to all staff throughout the Institute’s Ambulatory Care Clinics.
She has presented on Heart Failure and Pulmonary Hypertension within the Heart Institute during Nurses’ week, as well as providing in-services to Nursing Staff for IV
