Researchers wanted to know whether an enlarged pulmonary artery could independently predict risk in pulmonary arterial hypertension (in addition to existing risk-evaluation scores). Looking at 351 patients, they found it was a useful predictor of clinical worsening in itself. It also identified some lower-risk patients who were at a lower risk level than the existing risk scores indicated.
