Pulmonary hypertension patients are at risk of heart failure, and conversely, heart failure patients are at risk of developing pulmonary hypertension. This Heart Month, we’re posting tips for keeping your heart strong and healthy.
Everyone knows that exercise is good for your heart, and research shows it’s generally safe for pulmonary hypertension patients. But did you know that recent research found that switching up your exercise, instead of always doing the same workout, has even more benefits? Walking, yoga, bicycling, swimming, climbing stairs, rowing, weight training and other activities can all be adjusted for pulmonary hypertension patients.
The Pulmonary Hypertension Association in the USA has produced a series of five exercise-related videos specifically for pulmonary hypertension patients, covering introductions to exercise, pulmonary rehabilitation, yoga, cardio, and strength training.
By mixing up your movement in safe, guided ways, you’re not just staying active—you’re giving your heart the tools it needs to stay stronger, healthier, and more resilient.
