Tanya S. (St Eustache, MB)
Tanya’s journey with pulmonary hypertension began in the summer of 2022 after she contracted COVID-19. While her husband recovered quickly, Tanya continued to experience persistent shortness of breath that gradually worsened. After several medical appointments and months of uncertainty, she was eventually sent to urgent care when her oxygen levels dropped dangerously low. That same night, she was transferred to St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, where she received a life-changing diagnosis of idiopathic pulmonary hypertension along with a patent foramen ovale (PFO). She began treatment with medications that significantly improved her symptoms.
In late 2025, following a knee replacement, Tanya experienced a decline in her condition and, in March 2026, began IV Remodulin therapy. Through every stage of her journey, Tanya has shown resilience and determination. As a peer mentor, Tanya brings a deep understanding of the challenges of living with pulmonary hypertension, along with empathy, honesty, and a strong desire to support others navigating their own diagnosis and treatment journey.
