Marion R. (London, ON)

Marion was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension (IPAH) in January 2011. Prior to her diagnosis, she had been an active member of her community, but began to scale back her volunteer commitments due to increasing fatigue, low energy, and shortness of breath. After her family doctor noticed abnormalities during an EKG, she was referred to an internist and then to the London PH Clinic. By March 2011, Marion began her first of many PH treatments. Today, she is on triple therapy, including IV Treprostinil (Remodulin®).

Since her diagnosis, Marion has remained deeply committed to raising awareness about pulmonary hypertension. She is a founding member of the London PH Support Group, established in 2012, and is passionate about helping others continue to pursue the activities they love. Even during some of her most challenging moments, Marion has taken the opportunity to educate hospital staff about PH and the function of her medication pump.

Marion continues to find joy in dog obedience training and travelling with her family, creating lasting memories. Prior to her diagnosis, she was a large-volume cook and served as an Air Cadet Officer. She lives in Milverton, Ontario, with her husband, Bob, and is a proud mother to her three adult children—Whitney, Courtney, and her son-in-law Eric. Her family also includes her beloved Golden Retriever, Ryleigh, and grand fur-baby, Piper the boxer.
