Angela B. (Toronto, ON)
Angela brings both lived experience and heartfelt compassion to her role as a PH Peer Mentor. Through her own journey with pulmonary hypertension, she has developed a deep understanding of the day-to-day realities of living with the condition—including managing fatigue, pacing, and maintaining discipline around fluid and sodium intake. She is equally attuned to the emotional side of chronic illness, with insight into the mental load, identity shifts, and the process of adjusting to a new normal.
Angela is comfortable supporting others in navigating the healthcare system, building self-advocacy skills, and maintaining routines while living with ongoing symptoms. She became a Peer Mentor because she knows how overwhelming this journey can feel, especially in the early days, and believes that having someone who truly understands—even just to listen—can make a meaningful difference. Passionate about helping others feel less alone and more empowered, Angela also brings a strong background in communication through her experience as a speaker and Toastmasters leader. She is committed to showing up with empathy, honesty, and reliability in every connection.
Angela also has experience with:
Congenital heart disease
Pulmonary embolism
Sleep apnea
