PAH patients who skip treatment don't do as well as patients who adhere to their treatment plan

In a study of data from the Pulmonary Hypertension Association Registry in the US, researchers looked at who was more likely to skip pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) medication and what happens when people skip medications.

Overall, the rate of medication non-adherence was low: only about 6% of PAH patients reported not taking all their medications. Men, people with low income, single people, and people will less education (high school, but less than college) were more likely not to take all their medications. People who reported non-adherence had 50% more emergency department visits as well as more hospitalizations and more days spent hospitalized.
