6-Minute Walk for Breath

6-MINUTE WALK FOR BREATH Awareness Campaign

6-minute-walk-walking-ribbon.jpgThe Pulmonary Hypertension Association of Canada (PHA Canada) has a 6-Minute Walk for Breath campaign that can be used for awareness and/or fundraising events.

A 6-minute walk test (6MWT) is an easy-to-perform and practical test that is used in the assessment of patients with a variety of cardiopulmonary diseases, including pulmonary hypertension. That's why a 6-minute walk makes the perfect awareness event for educating others about pulmonary hypertension.

In order to educate participants about PH, PHA Canada has developed companion sheets that outline symptoms at specific markers, which will be provided at the event. Participants may walk the 6-minute route several times to raise funds for PH.

PHA Canada has a variety of resources available to you if you would like to hold a 6-Minute Walk for Breath event in your community. Reach out to us at beaware@phacanada.ca to get materials, ask questions or learn more about this campaign.
